May-EON Boat Cruise

In May, Grant's company hosted a boat cruise on Lake Austin. They had fajitas, margaritas, a live band, and dancing. It was so much fun!

May-Susan in town!

One of my best friends from college, Susan, currently lives in Austrailia for work. In May, she came home briefly for a wedding. Susan, Katherine (another best friend of Susan's), and I went out to the Hills Cafe one night while she was in town. This picture cracks me up. Susan & Katherine were dancing and this poor cowboy had NO idea what he was walking into!
Katherine & I showing off our fancy Hills-wear.
Such silly girls...
And this is why I miss Susan so much. How many of your friends will cartwheel out of sheer joy?

May-The Rookie Triathlon

On May 9th, Grant completed his first triathlon! My mom, dad, and brother drove down to support Grant in his newest sporting endeavor. The Rookie Tri, in New Braunfels, was a 500-yard swim, an 11-mile bike ride, and a two-mile run. As usual, Grant's toughness and determination paid off. He was great!

Setting up his bike nice and early in the morning...
Grant's #1 fan...
The Melson boys came to support Grant...

Grant and his #2 fan (really...she calls him "my boy!")...

Grant's age group getting ready in the water...

And their off!
Grant coming up out of the water and running to the bike transition...
And here he comes! Heading towards the finish line after his 11-mile bike and 2-mile run!

He did it! Congrats, Grant!

May-The official Cinco de Mayo

On May 5th, yours truly celebrated the big 2-7. Just a few pics of the goings-on of my birthday.

Below is a picture of a bunch of cards, a birthday wine glass from Mom, and a pinata from Kelli & Justin in our small group.
The flowers that were waiting for me at work from one sweet husband. :)
My friend Danielle knows me too well and knows what kind of sick concotions I can create when I'm pigging out.
Grilling out with Grant for dinner.

A closer look at my "birthday girl" wine glass from my mom. Super-cute, huh? I was laying low with only Coke in my pretty little glass.
Later that night my girls from work took me out to Trudy's for more birthday fun. Heather, me, Beth, and Carly.

My AMAZING tres leches cake that Heather & my boss, Glenna, picked out for me. YUM!

Katherine took me to dinner the following night at Chuy's, probably my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Katherine got me an iDog for my birthday! It's a cute little iPod speaker that dances to my music while it's playing. Love it!

May-My Birthday Boat Party

For my 27th birthday, Grant planned the most fun party ever...a party barge around Lake Travis here in Austin! The boat held 100 people and sailed around Lake Travis to a point called Devil's Cove where we parked and were able to jump off the boat, slide, and swim. I don't know if Grant will ever be able to top this birthday party and I don't care. SO MUCH FUN!

The birthday girl with her favorite co-workers: Heather, Sara, Carly, & Beth

My absolute most favorite picture of my sister EVER. She drove down from Dallas for the big day and I'm SO glad she did. She MADE the party. :)
Those crazy Melson girls
My sweet husband, taking advantage of the boat's slide. Yes folks, he's one big man-child.
Getting some sun on the upper deck with Heather & Carly.
As the birthday girl, I HAD to go down the slide and check out the lake. (P.S. It was 69 degrees)
A view of the Large Margers from the upper deck. Joe & Lauren (our Oklahoma friends), Marco (our upstairs neighbor), Paige (Erin's college friend), me, Grant, and nutty Erin.
The Qualleys know how to throw one good party!
The trip back to the dock...the birthday girl enjoying in the view. :)

April-Oklahoma City Memorial Run

Grant & I drove to Norman, Oklahoma back in April so that he could do the half marathon portion of the Oklahoma City Memorial Run.
As Grant's cheerleader, I didn't exactly need to rest up for the big day so I got to spend the weekend with my favorite Norman friends. Amber, Veronica, and I (and the boys!) went out to our old hang-out on Campus Corner, Logan's.
Saturday night the Memorial runners and cheerleaders made a "family dinner" of pasta to get those bodies a'moving.Sunday morning was the big day. The weather turned out to be really nice and Grant, as usual, did really well. :) He & Mike, his running buddy are the kings of happy runners.
And I couldn't resist stopping at some bluebonnets on the way home.
